Testing

Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested. (Hebrews 2:18 NLT)

• Testing should not catch us by surprise, but it is surprising how quickly we complain when the test comes. Pray we center our thoughts on Jesus and how he managed it.
• Pray for students preparing for exam week, their time of testing, that begins on Monday.
• When the test comes, whether pen and paper or in the crucible of human dynamics, pray for recall about what we've already learned and for wisdom to apply it.

Patient Endurance

• It's one thing to endure, quite another to patiently endure. This spiritual characteristic will require prayer and lots of it.
• Patient endurance, not contrived, but emanating from Jesus Christ, our loving Lord - pray for it.
• When the pressure seldom lets up, only the love of God can bring relief so pray for us to keep turning our struggles toward the one who knows what to do with them.

• Regardless of perspectives, facts, and circumstances, the Lord is faithful to us. Pray likewise that we are faithful to him in all our thoughts, words, and actions.
• Not only do we have Paul's admonition to pray against evil, Jesus included it in the Lord's Prayer: Deliver us from evil. Pray for protection from wicked and evil people and from the evil one.
• Pray for strength to stand and work for the Lord in hostile environments.

• Every Christian faces the tedious and the wearisome from time to time. Pray for the proper perspective to see the end from the beginning, to see God's outcome even while slogging through the process.

• Meetings, conference calls, spontaneous human interactions, problem-solving, decision-making, strategy sessions - in all of these we need the Holy Spirit to give his gifts of wisdom and knowledge.
• Pray for the gifts of wisdom and knowledge to be expressed among us.
• Pray for an eagerness to seek these gifts and for an awareness of when they are needed and demonstrated.

Stand Still

• Sometimes we are commanded to fight and at other times we are ordered to stand still and see the Lord's victory. As each battle forms, pray we discern which actions to take.

Mercy and Compassion

• Pray for God to move among us and within us, and from experiencing him, may we emulate his goodness.
• Pray God chooses to show mercy and compassion upon us and pray that we become carriers, taking mercy and compassion to others.

• God promises to never leave us so if we ever find ourselves alone, it must mean we chose a path to a place he will not go. Pray our choices keep us close to him.

• If the Lord could give Moses rest considering what he was dealing with, how much more can he give us the peace of Christ that removes all anxiety, Pray we submit to his peace.

• Sometimes we ask God to tell us what to do, but often the more appropriate prayer is to ask him to give us the alertness and the desire to hear what he has already told us.
• Pray we are vigilant in listening for his voice, that we recognize it among the cacophony of noises around us, and that we quickly adjust our direction to his instruction.
• Pray for our students during these final weeks of the semester to carefully listen to his voice and to obey him and the guidance he offers.

• God pays attention to what is happening like we anticipate the first blossoms of spring after a long, hard winter. People watched the almond branches because they blossomed first. Growth, planting and harvest followed. Thank God for his vigilance to every detail.
• Thank God that he not only carries out his plans, he carries us along as well, enabling us to have an active part in what he is doing.
• Pray that all of our actions align with all of his plans.

God's Mighty Weapons

• Human reasoning sometimes renders God impotent by eliminating faith, one of God's mighty weapons. Pray we increase faith over reason, God's possible over man's probable.
• Pray we use God's mighty weapons, like prayer or love or faith, to do what others' say cannot be done.
• Strongholds of opposition crumble before the believer who takes God at his Word. Pray for more believers like that to rise up among us.

• Darkness to light is the journey of the redeemed who by God's power have become his people. Pray for us to walk with boldness, never lingering in the shadows of doubt, but always moving forward in the light.
• My father's hands guided me, lifted me, held me, defended me, corrected me, labored for me, caressed me. Pray we embrace our heavenly Father in the same light and yield to him as loving and obedient children.

Pray for Anything

• Faith without doubting is not easy. Pray for the spiritual sense to have less faith in our own ability and more faith in Jesus' desire to move the mountains blocking our way.
• Pray for anything? Really? Why do we place limits on our prayers? Pray for unlimited faith to believe that anything is possible with God, to believe for much more.
• Pray for significant meetings this week on campus, for favor with God and men, for mountain-moving faith.

They Followed

• Sense these guys intensity. "Have mercy on us." The crowd stifles them. They shout louder, "Lord, have mercy on us." Pray today with that same intensity and see what happens.
• Jesus responded to their passion with compassion, giving them vision and so much more. Pray the prayer: "We want to see."
• Following Jesus is the natural response to his compassionate answer to prayer. Pray we follow closely, using our new vision to see what he sees and to do what he does. 
• Pray for us at Emmanuel, for intensity in our asking, for clarity of vision, for obedience in our following.

What do you want?

• First, Jesus heard them. He hears you and me, too; therefore, call out to him today. Please pray.
• Second, Jesus stopped. He will stop what he is doing when we call to him; therefore, call out to him today and everyday. Please pray.
• Third, Jesus asked them a simple question: What do you want? We should answer that question today and everyday through our heartfelt prayers. Please pray.
