His Kindness and Love

The Lord forgives our sins, heals us when we are sick, and protects us from death. His kindness and love are a crown on our heads. Each day that we live, he provides for our needs and gives us the strength of a young eagle. (Psalm 103:3-4 CEV)

Today's meditation:
  • God's kindness and love in our lives are as clearly visible to others as the garments we wear, and in fact, clothe us as in robes of royalty, marked as his children, his heirs, his family for the world to see.
Give thanks:
  • For we are forgiven, restored to good health, and saved from uncertainty and impotence, give thanks for our God who daily provides Emmanuel College with what we need and renews our strength.

Your Strong Arm

They did not conquer the land with their swords; it was not their own strong arm that gave them victory. It was your right hand and strong arm and the blinding light from your face that helped them, for you loved them. (Psalm 44:3 NLT)

Today's meditation:
  • No matter how capable we think we may be, it is the Lord who brings victory, who overcomes the insurmountable and vanquishes the unconquerable - because he loves us.

New Strength

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31 NLT)

Today's meditation:
  • Old strength from past achievement is constantly fading into the background which is why we need new strength from the active presence of the Lord to keep us soaring high in his kingdom's work, moving forward, quickly at times, slowly at others, but always toward the next God-inspired goal.
Give thanks:
  • For the new strength inspiring the people of Emmanuel College to seize every opportunity to advance the kingdom of God through higher education.

Strength to the Powerless

He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. (Isaiah 40:29 NLT)

Today's meditation:
  • Fathers often provide what their children lack, lifting them on their shoulders to help them see more clearly, whispering words of encouragement when they lack confidence, steadying them in risky places so they may walk or ride, carrying them, if necessary, until they are able to stand on their own. Thank you, Father.
Give thanks:
  • For the steady hand of God that has held Emmanuel College during the difficulties of the last four years.
  • For the power of the Lord that lifted us when we were so weak, for the strength of the Lord that infused us with energy and action when we were powerless and spent, for the comfort we feel in the presence of the Lord.

His Understanding

Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. (Isaiah 40:28 NLT)

Today's meditation:
  • Isn't it funny when people strut around like peacocks, trying to convince us they know everything about God? But try as we may, what we know is but a thimble full compared to the infinite complexity of the Lord God Almighty and his ways among humans, giving us all the more reason to marvel at his yearning to be with us and to have us call him Daddy.
Give thanks:
  • For the everlasting God who stoops to interact with us, to be present with us, to love and care for us, to be patient with us, and to intercede for us.
  • For our God who never leaves us - even when our faith is weak and we have no strength and our perspective is distorted and we lack understanding - even then, especially then, he never abandons us.

Incomparable Strength

"To whom will you compare me? Who is my equal?" asks the Holy One. Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name. Because of his great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing. (Isaiah 40:25-26 NLT)

Today's meditation:
  • So self-absorbed in our daily lives, we hardly notice the magnificence of the heavens or the sheer magnitude of the universe or the vastness of the oceans or the resplendent beauty of  mountains, valleys and plains, or the incomparable God and creator who made it all.
Give thanks:
  • For the unlimited and extraordinary power of our God who moves mountains and quiets storms with words alone, who speaks, and the created obeys.
  • For how the Lord engages his great power to sustain Emmanuel College and to create greater financial stability for use in growth and expansion of the kingdom of God.

Solid Ground

Now I stand on solid ground, and I will publicly praise the Lord. (Psalm 26:12 NLT)

Today's meditation:
  • Despite appearances, if you have Jesus, you've been on solid ground all along, through every storm and hazard, through every trial and trouble. It's our perspective that makes us think otherwise, but when we get on the other side of trouble, it is amazing how quickly perspective adjusts to reality.
Give thanks:
  • For all the people who have prayed and continue to pray for Emmanuel College, for God's answers to our prayers through miracle after miracle, for the constant presence of our Lord and Savior.

Pray today:
  • For the College's debt reduction plan to be completed next week, for all the many details required to finish the task to be satisfied, for the heavy load of debt to be lifted, for freedom to engage in a new and highly productive season of service in the kingdom of God.

Praises

Sing praises to God, our strength. Sing to the God of Jacob. (Psalm 81:1 NLT)

Today's meditation:
  • Part of our conversation with God is the expression of our emotions about him, how much we love him and enjoy his company, how grateful we are for his presence and his acts of kindness, how much we adore him for who he is.
Pray today:
  • For supernatural strength from the Lord when our frailties are exposed, for us to turn times of waiting into resilience of spirit and resurgence of energy, releasing one challenge with celebrations of praise while embracing the next one with fortitude and sturdy resolve.

The Lord Listens

The Lord listens to those in need and does not look down on captives. Heaven and earth should praise him, the seas and everything in them. (Psalm 69:33-34 NCV)

Today's meditation:
  • Our conversations with God - we call it prayer - should be more than asking sessions because he listens not only to our requests but to our hearts whether they are empty or full, desperate or overflowing, and regardless of our condition, he longs to be with us.
Pray today:
  • For freedom from any restraint that inhibits our service to the Lord, for hearts of hope to be made full by the deliverance he brings, for his people to offer endless praise to a loving, listening God who blesses us with his presence and empowers us by his Spirit.
Our prayers make a difference in our outcomes. Please continue to pray over the list below that focuses on key needs at Emmanuel College.

I Pray

But I pray to you, Lord, for favor. God, because of your great love, answer me. You are truly able to save. (Psalm 69:13 NCV)

Today's meditation:
  • Pray and keep on praying. Ask and keep on asking. Unceasing prayer erodes doubt and moves the unmovable which is often us.
Pray today:
  • For favor upon Emmanuel College and upon those who work on behalf of the College in any capacity, for persistent prayer for the College to be offered to our loving Lord, for rescue by the One who is able to save.

Great Love

You have great love for me. You have saved me from death. (Psalm 86:13 NCV)

Today's meditation:
  • Looking back, we have clear view of the great love of God sustaining us, especially in the dark moments when life itself seemed to drain away, but he was with us and that made all the difference.
Pray today:
  • For any of our students who are in danger of quitting and giving up the opportunities before them, for them to sense the great love of God surrounding them, for them to fight discouragement and work hard to finish the academic year successfully.
  • For the people and supporters of Emmanuel College as we complete the debt reduction plan this month, for all the pieces to fall into place over the next few days, for us to sense the great love of God holding us at every dip in the road, around every corner, all the way to the finish line.

All My Heart

Lord, my God, I will praise you with all my heart, and I will honor your name forever. (Psalm 86:12 NCV)

Today's meditation:
  • No matter the current circumstances, whether good or bad or comfortable or not, may we never cease to praise the Lord - for he is good, he is with us, and he is worthy to be honored and adored.
Pray today:
  • For praises to unceasingly rise from difficult places as easily as they do from pleasant pastures and still waters.
  • For praise to God to overwhelm our hearts, driving out all bitterness and erasing all disappointment, as we worship the Lord today and every day.

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. (John 16:13 NLT)

Today's meditation:
  • How comforting to have a reliable guide who knows the way! Come, Holy Spirit, and lead us.
Pray today:
  • For the future of Emmanuel College, for leaders to cast a vision that perfectly aligns with the will of God, for students, staff, faculty and administration to listen to and obey the voice of the Holy Spirit as he guides us.

The Helper

[Jesus said], "But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor - Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you]." (John 16:7 AMP)

Today's meditation:
  • Have you noticed? We need help as never before in this maddening world. And there he is - Helper is his name. We are not alone, and drawing close to him, we are equipped with what we need to face each day.
Pray today:
  • For the people of Emmanuel College, some of whom need a Comforter, others who need a good Counselor, still others who need an Intercessor and Advocate, all who need a Strengthener and a Helper who always stands with us.
  • For our students who are in the final weeks of the semester, for plans and preparations to go well, for them to study hard and learn well, for them persist and finish well.
  • For our graduates to finish strong, and as they turn the page to the next chapter of life, for them to start well - to live, serve, marry, work, and worship well.

Tarry Until

[Jesus said], "Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high." (Luke 24:49 NKJV)

Today's meditation:
  • Waiting. No one likes it, but maybe wait time should be used wisely to draw closer to our Lord, to receive his comfort, to hear his commands, and to get ready for what's next when the waiting is over.
Pray today:
  • For the final stages of the current debt reduction plan to go smoothly, for the legal parts to fall into place easily, for all committed funds to be accumulated quickly.
  • For the planned reduction transactions to occur on schedule before the end of April.
  • For power from on high to fill us, to enable us, and to move us forward in God's mission for Emmanuel College.

Unity

[Jesus continued], "I in them and you in me - so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me." (John 17:23 NIV)

Today's meditation:
  • Complete unity. I've seen it a few times, not that everyone was in complete agreement, but that we were united in purpose, our differences moderated by the love of Christ in us.
Pray today:
  • For the people of Emmanuel College to be united in purpose and action, to know the will of God and obey it.
  • For others to see our unity and know that the love of Jesus is in us, to understand that the love of Jesus compels us, and to experience the love of Jesus through us.
  • For whatever God calls us to do, for whatever lies ahead, pray that no human spirit impedes the way, but that the Holy Spirit is allowed to lead the way.
Our prayers make a difference in our outcomes. Please continue to pray over the list below that focuses on key needs at Emmanuel College.

“. . .they raised their voices together in prayer to God.” (Acts 4:24 NIV)
