We Trust in You Alone

Then Asa cried out to the Lord his God, "O Lord, no one but you can help the powerless against the mighty! Help us, O Lord our God, for we trust in you alone." (2 Chronicles 14:11a NLT)

Today's prayer topics:
  • There are times to be still and pray quietly, but other times when we must cry out and call upon the Lord with visceral intensity.
  • Pray we understand it is God who helps the powerless prevail.
  • Pray for help for we are in good company when we do, and if he could help them, he can help us even when we are not sure where to turn.
Thank you for praying.

Never give up unless its praise we give up to God; never give in except to give in to him.

Worship the Lord

Honor the Lord for the glory of his name. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness. (Psalm 29:2 NLT)

Today's prayers:
  • When we focus on his holiness, the immediate response is to bow down and worship. Dear God, help us to think of your holiness today and worship.
  • O Lord, your glory, your holiness is beyond our comprehension. Forgive us when we focus on ourselves instead of you.
  • Dear Father, you are God in all your splendor, yet we know you and you know us. We offer our praise today, our genuine, heartfelt worship.
Thank you for praying.

Never give up unless its praise we give up to God; never give in except to give in to him.

Wiser, Stronger

The foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God's weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength. (1 Corinthians 1:25 NLT)

Today's prayer topics:
  • Ludicrous to think of God's plan as foolish or to even think of him as having weakness, yet our actions sometimes imply that our plan is superior and our strength unending. Forgive us, Lord.
  • Pray our strength is unending because of him. Pray our plans are wise because they are his.
  • Pray for favor with the members of the review committee appointed by the accrediting agency who will read and respond to our report this spring.
Thank you for praying.

Never give up unless its praise we give up to God; never give in except to give in to him.

Overwhelming Victory

Can anything every separate us from Christ's love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? . . .No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. (Psalm 97:4-6 NIV)

Today's prayer topics:
  • From any position, whether strength or weakness, plenty or lack, turmoil or peace, God overwhelms defeat with victory and overwhelms our fear with his love. Pray through.

Listen

He said, "Listen, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen, King Jehoshaphat! This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid! Don't be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God's." (2 Chronicles 20:15 NLT)

  • Pray for perspective to help us relinquish the battles into God's capable hands where it belongs.
  • Pray for listening skills to hear the Lord speaking through his Word, through others' words, through wise ones, faith-full ones, and even from the mouths of children.

Compassion

When he [Jesus] saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. (Matthew 9:36 NLT)

Today's prayer topics:
  • Another SEND Week has been completed, but the message resonates still, for there are so many who need help yet so few helpers to go around. Pray for more people to accept the role of shepherd.

  • Pray for EC Serve to expand its scope and influence, serving the confused and helpless wherever they may be found. Pray on.
Thank you for praying.

For Others

Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets. (Matthew 7:12 NLT)

  • The essence of SEND Week is to paint a portrait of the needy and hurting, and then finding ways to send those with vision and desire to help. Pray for many to respond.
  • If I were hungry, destitute, without hope, knowing little about God, I would want you to help me. Pray we do for others what we would want done for us if the roles were reversed.
Thank you for praying.
