In the Spirit

I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet, saying, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last." (Revelation 1:10-11a NKJV)

Today's meditation:
  • On this Lord's Day, today, may we be in the Spirit and hear his voice clearly as we worship Almighty God who is our all in all, who is our beginning and our ending and everything in between.
Pray today:
  • For planning for the next academic year, especially in the area of spiritual formation, for a campus culture intently focused on the Truth of the Gospel and practical Christian living, for renewal and revival where Jesus changes us from the inside out.
Our prayers make a difference in our outcomes. Please continue to pray over the list below that focuses on key needs at Emmanuel College.

King Over All

The Lord placed his throne in heaven; he is king over all. Praise the Lord, you strong and mighty angels, who obey his commands, who listen to what he says. Praise the Lord, all you heavenly powers, you servants of his, who do his will! Praise the Lord, all his creatures in all the places he rules. Praise the Lord, my soul! (Psalm 103:19-22 GNB)

Today's meditation:
  • Praise is what the Lord deserves, and as his creatures, praise is what we offer him, for we owe him our lives. He marshals the hosts of heaven on our behalf. He commands and his creation obeys. He is king over all. Yes, praise the Lord! Oh my soul, praise the Lord!
Pray today:
  • For the Commencement Ceremony today to be a crowning achievement for our faculty and staff who bring another class to completion, for our graduates to see today as a beginning, not an ending, for the Holy Spirit to guide them in the critical decisions they are making about futures and careers, for each of them to trust God with their lives, and no matter what struggles and successes are ahead, to love the Lord and serve him.

For All Generations

As for us, our life is like grass. We grow and flourish like a wild flower; then the wind blows on it, and it is gone - no one sees it again. But for those who honor the Lord, his love lasts forever, and his goodness endures for all generations of those who are true to his covenant and who faithfully obey his commands.. (Psalm 103:15-18 GNB)

Today's meditation:
  • Generations have come and gone in Emmanuel's 99-year history as the College remains a beacon of light and a fountain of knowledge thanks to God's enduring love. May we, the generations who lead today, be faithful to him and obedient so that generations yet to come will find the same life-changing impact as those who have gone before.
Pray today:
  • For our Commencement activities this weekend, for all the many details and plans to be completed well, for all those involved from faculty and staff to parking attendants, for the host of volunteers who help, for all who will be traveling to and from, for the favor of God to rest upon us and upon our graduates.

As a Father

As a father is kind to his children, so the Lord is kind to those who honor him. He knows what we are made of; he remembers that we are dust. (Psalm 103:13-14 GNB)

Today's meditation:
  • Good fathers are kind and loving to their children, so obvious when taking time to be with them, when providing for them, when coming to their rescue, but also when disciplining and guiding them so perfectly, especially our Father, for he remembers we are dust.
Pray today:
  • For our human frailties to not interfere with God's plan for Emmanuel, for the strength of the Lord in us to overcome our weakness, for the Spirit of God upon us to empower feeble hands for the great work of God before us.
Our prayers make a difference in our outcomes. Please continue to pray over the list below that focuses on key needs at Emmanuel College.

Great is His Love

He does not keep on rebuking; he is not angry forever. He does not punish us as we deserve or repay us according to our sins and wrongs. As high as the sky is above the earth, so great is his love for those who honor him. As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our sins from us. (Psalm 103:9-12 GNB)

Today's meditation:
  • Oh, the wonder of God's mercy toward us - forgiveness of sins, undeserved favor, and his great love. No wonder we honor him and worship with grateful hearts, for no one is like him, no one compares. Hallelujah!
Pray today:
  • For the people of Emmanuel College to experience new birth, new hope, and new vision, for us to shake off any lingering restraints from the past, to banish unproductive thoughts, and to see the future through God's eyes.
Our prayers make a difference in our outcomes. Please continue to pray over the list below that focuses on key needs at Emmanuel College.

Compassionate and Merciful

The Lord gives righteousness and justice to all who are treated unfairly. He revealed his character to Moses and his deeds to the people of Israel. The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. (Psalm 103:6-8 NLT)

Today's meditation:
  • What the enemy uses with intent to bring us harm, God, in his compassion, mercy, and love, turns it for our good.
Pray today:
  • For all recruiting efforts this summer, for safety and protection for all who travel and represent the College at various events, for the Holy Spirit to lead us to the students who should be enrolling, for staff to be effective in communication, for students to obey the Lord.
