Three Days

Jesus replied, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." When Jesus said "this temple," he meant his own body. (John 2:19, 21 NLT)

Today's meditation:
  • Three miserable days for the followers of Jesus, and because they had forgotten Jesus' promise, they wallowed in hopeless despair. Ever been there? In the middle of your mess, focus on his promises, and the grave grows brighter.
Pray today:
  • For the millions who have never heard the Gospel, for millions more who ignore Jesus, and even millions more who reject God's love and the sacrifice of the Savior.
  • For the people of Emmanuel College to do our part in sharing the Gospel with those who have yet to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
Our prayers make a difference in our outcomes. Please continue to pray over the list below that focuses on key needs at Emmanuel College.

The Cross

There they nailed him to the cross. Two others were crucified with him, one on either side, with Jesus between them. (John 19:18 NLT)

Today's meditation:
  • All humanity hangs on a cross beside the Savior in the persons of the two thieves, either rejecting him or crying out for mercy. There is no middle ground.
  • Jesus, have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and remember us in your kingdom - empowered to live for you, energized to share your love with those around us.
Pray today:
  • For the lost around the world, for the unsaved near us, for them, regardless of where they are, to hear the Gospel, even better, to see the Gospel lived out in us.
  • For the people of Emmanuel College to be soul-winners, living for Jesus, sharing the Gospel, preparing generation after generation for service, sending them out as lights into a dark world to illumine the way to Savior.

Much Fruit

[Jesus said] "When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples." (John 15:8 NLT)

Today's meditation:
  • True disciples produce, not a little, but much. And production requires teams of people performing many different tasks, some in the background, others out front, but in the end, all contribute to the harvest.
Pray today:
  • For the people of Emmanuel College to be hard-working fruit farmers who take the words of Jesus seriously to produce much fruit, to pray and prepare, to prune off the unnecessary, to fight off devouring pests, to pull out the choking weeds, and to nurture growth and development.

If You Love Me

[Jesus said] "If you love me, show it by doing what I've told you." (John 14:15 MSG)

Today's meditation:
  • Jesus commanded us to love God and then to love others. When we do this, our love for God and his love for us are exposed for all to see.
Pray today:
  • For the people of Emmanuel College to love God by accepting his gifts, by spending time with him, by sharing a meal in remembrance of him, by having conversations with him about life, by doing things for him, by telling him how much we love him, by never saying or doing anything to hurt him.
  • For the people of Emmanuel College to love others in the same ways we love God, by accepting gifts of love and friendship, by spending time with family and friends, by sharing in the fellowship of believers, by conversations that encourage and challenge us, by telling others how much we love them, by never saying or doing anything to hurt others, by acts of kindness toward others, especially to strangers, to those in need, and even to those who do not love us.

Jesus

Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me." (John 14:6 NLT)

Today's meditation:
  • Way maker. Truth speaker. Life giver. Jesus in me is all of these and more.
Pray today:
  • For the people of Emmanuel College to declare the Gospel of Jesus Christ by the words we speak, by the actions we take, and by the lives we live.
  • For us to fight the world's alluring message that any path will lead to God, for us to proclaim the truth about Jesus as the only way to God, for us to share the Good News of Jesus that all are welcome to new life through his life-giving blood.

Unless I Wash You

Jesus replied, "Unless I wash you, you won't belong to me." Simon Peter exclaimed, "Then wash my hands and head as well, Lord, not just my feet!" (John 13:8 NLT)

Today's meditation:
  • Debris from the world can so easily attach itself to us in our going, working and thinking, but may we yield each day to the gentle cleansing of the Savior - head, hands and feet.
Pray today:
  • For the people of Emmanuel College to be committed to Jesus Christ as never before, to keep our minds pure and focused on him, to go where he calls us whether near or far, and to do what he asks of us - teaching, learning, nurturing, growing, leading, serving, praying, praising - until he comes again.

Pray today:
  • For the correct perspective when dealing with trouble, to see God fully engaged with us like any good Father who not only protects but guides us to learn the important lessons of life.

Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. (Isaiah 30:18a NIV)

Pray today:

We Trust in You

And Asa cried out to the Lord his God, and said, "Lord, it is nothing with you to help, whether with many or with those who have no power. Help us, O Lord our God; for we trust in you, and in Your name we come against this multitude. O Lord, You are our God. Let no man prevail against you." (2 Chronicles 14:11 MEV)

Today's meditation:
  • Take a good look at whatever challenges or threatens us and what it would take, no matter how huge, to solve the challenge or remove the threat. It is like nothing to God. It is easy for him.
Pray today:
  • For our trust in the Lord to soar, for us to remember who it is we serve.
  • For us to relax our grip on the challenges we face even as we hold more tightly to him who is our source and our deliverer.
  • For threats to dissolve, for obstacles to fall, for nothing to thwart God's plan and purposes for us, for people to yield to God's will.

Hear My Prayer

Hear my prayer, O God. Listen to the words of my mouth.  (Psalm 54:2 NIV)

Today's meditation:
  • There are prayers of appreciation, prayers over the ordinary, prayers for people, prayers about trouble, prayers that rise out of pain, prayers for the miraculous, but through it all, there is the sweet communion of conversation with our God as he listens with attentiveness as our loving Father.
Pray today:
  • For prayers to continue for Emmanuel College, now more than ever.
  • For more prayers, not less, for more intercession, morning, noon, and night, for the determination to pray through, not letting up in our petitions until we have finished what God started in us.

Strength

God said this once and for all; how many times have I heard it repeated? "Strength comes straight from God." (Psalm 62:11 MSG)

Today's meditation:
  • "Strength comes from God" is a truth we need not merely recite. We must live it everyday.
Pray today:
  • For those among the Emmanuel College faculty, staff and administration, who need strength and energy to complete the Spring Semester, to find and receive God's strength, more than enough for every task.
  • For our students, who may find their energy depleted, to turn to the Lord for the boost of energy they need to complete all their work this semester and finish strong.
  • For those who work alongside us, our helpers and counselors, our alumni and friends, to have abundant strength and sturdy resolve to continue supporting the work of the Lord at Emmanuel College.

The Lord is Good

Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; celebrate his lovely name with music. (Psalm 135:3 NLT)

Today's meditation:
  • Stop and think about the goodness of the Lord, and stay in that moment for a while. Before we ask him for another thing, let's savor the moment and allow ourselves to be inundated with the love and comfort of our great and awesome God.
Offer praise to God today:
  • For he is good and worthy of our worship and celebration of his great name today.
  • And worship him today from the very core of our beings, with music and singing, with instruments and applause, with words and prayers, with lifted hands and hearts.
  • May we break through the distractions and clutter, closing out the insincere and the shallow, to find ourselves at the feet of the Savior with humble and contrite hearts of worship and praise.
Our prayers make a difference in our outcomes. Please continue to pray over the list below that focuses on key needs at Emmanuel College.

Praise the Lord

Praise the Lord! Praise the name of the Lord! Praise him, you who serve the Lord. (Psalm 135:1 NLT)

Today's meditation:
  • Let praise flow from our lips, because no matter how dark the day, there is always something to thank God for, past or present, but even if our memory is clouded, simply praise him for who he is, and the brighter our future becomes.
Offer praise to God today:
  • For he is larger than any challenge we can imagine, and he is greater than all our hopes and dreams.
  • And give thanks for good news this week that improves the College's timeline for completing debt reduction tasks this spring.
  • And give thanks for the cooperation and collaboration of so many people working with so many moving parts that are all falling into place according to his perfect design and plan for Emmanuel College.

The Least of These

For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in . . . Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me. (Matthew 25:35, 40b NKJV)

Today's meditation:
  • We have to remember that not all people who need help live across the oceans. Many are right here in our own country who need help and who need Jesus.
Pray today:
  • For our EC Serve summer mission trip to Appalachia in cooperation with the Appalachian Service Project.
  • For the people they will serve to be open and receptive to the person and work of Jesus through the students and other volunteers who will serve, for the workers to be energized and prepared to work, for safety as they work and travel.

That night Paul had a vision: A man from Macedonia in northern Greece was standing there, pleading with him, "Come over to Macedonia and help us!" (Acts 16:9 NLT)

Today's meditation:

Pray today:

Tell the Nations

Tell the nations, "The Lord reigns!" (Psalm 96:10a NLT)

Today's meditation:

Pray today:
  • For our EC Serve summer mission trips to Appalachia, Costa Rica, and Uganda.

What God Has Done

From eternity to eternity I am God. No one can snatch anyone out of my hand. No one can undo what I have done. (Isaiah 43:13 NLT)

  • When we run to the Lord, we enter a refuge like no other, where the enemy cannot reach us and where the perfect will of God can be completed.
Pray today:
  • For us to always work within the parameters of God's will, for us to be active participants in what he is doing in the world, for us to never find ourselves leaving the safety of his hand of protection, for us to continuously align our actions with his vision for us.

No Other Savior

I, yes, I am the Lord, and there is no other Savior. (Isaiah 43:11a NLT)

Today's meditation:
  • No other Savior - not people, not organizations, not leaders, not administrators. And while all of these have a role to play, it is the Lord God who assigns the roles, instructs and empowers the players, and ultimately orchestrates our rescue.
Praise God today:
  • For his direction and favor these last several months in moving very complex processes forward that will dramatically reduce the College's debt, and give thanks for all the many people who have worked so hard and contributed to our goal of financial freedom, and continue to pray for ongoing tasks to be completed in an orderly and timely manner.

Deep Waters

When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. (Isaiah 43:2-3a NLT)

Today's meditation:
  • There's that promise again to be our God who is always with us, Emmanuel, and especially through deep waters, difficulty and oppression. Oh, praise the Holy One, the Lord our God.
Pray today:
  • For the ability to navigate deep waters through a singular focus on the abiding presence of the Lord, for strength to use the rivers of difficulty to nurture hope, for endurance to extinguish the fire of oppression and the flames of destruction through absolute trust in our Savior.

You Are Mine

But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, "Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine." (Isaiah 43:1 NLT)

Today's meditation:

Paths You Should Follow

This is what the Lord says - your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is good for you and leads you along the paths you should follow." (Isaiah 48:17 NLT)

Today's meditation:
  • Oh, that we would be good students and learn the lessons the Lord is teaching us, but even more, may we be good followers of the Lord by putting into practice the lessons learned.
Pray today:
  • For the leadership of Emmanuel College to see clearly the paths of the Lord that we should follow, for the Emmanuel family to obey his every command and follow faithfully.
Our prayers make a difference in our outcomes. Please continue to pray over the list below that focuses on key needs at Emmanuel College.

“. . .they raised their voices together in prayer to God.” (Acts 4:24 NIV)

PRAY FOR OUR HELPERS AND SUPPORTERS
  • To possess words of influence and to use them wisely.
  • To experience the favor of God.
  • To supply resources, both financial and otherwise, that create a bright future for the College.
PRAY FOR THE LEADERSHIP TEAM

  • To make good decisions and to clearly communicate them.
  • To be faithful in all circumstances, whether easy or hard, always with thankful hearts.
