Shouting Louder

Two blind men were sitting beside the road. When they heard that Jesus was coming that way, they began shouting, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!" "Be quiet!" the crowd yelled at them. But they only shouted louder, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!" (Matthew 20:30-31 NLT)

Today's prayer topics:
  • Knowing what you need is half the battle; asking for it is the other half. The rest is up to Jesus.
  • Pray that we as needy people will call upon the Lord, now more than ever.
  • When the world tries to silence us, may we cry out to God all the louder: "Dear Lord, have mercy on us. Restore our sight, our vision. Heal us where we are broken. Deliver us that we may become deliverance for others."
Never give up unless its praise we give up to God; never give in except to give in to him.

I Am There

For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them. (Matthew 18:20 NLT)

Today's prayer topics:
  • Why two or three? Because any gathering of Christians, no matter how small, is a force to be reckoned with because Jesus is the mountain-mover, the road-straightener, the life-maker.
  • Pray for the Emmanuel family to be Christ-followers, to go where he leads and to let him live among us.
  • Pray for the followers of Jesus to gather often, to pray without ceasing, to unify around Christ, and to move in faith.
Never give up unless its praise we give up to God; never give in except to give in to him.

If Two Agree

I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. (Matthew 18:19 NLT)

Today's prayer topics:
  • Why two? Because Christian faith is relational, faith is family, and faith is easier and stronger in the company of others.
  • Pray for agreement among a host of believers for the binding of the enemy of God who opposes Emmanuel College and for giving to us what we ask.
  • We ask for release from the bondage of debt, for help in satisfying authorities, for overflowing resources to advance the mission, for thousands of students to mold and make into disciples of Jesus.
Never give up unless its praise we give up to God; never give in except to give in to him.

Truth

I tell you the truth, whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven. (Matthew 18:18 NLT)

Today's prayer topics:
  • Jesus bestows us with power to bind the bad and release good. This is truth. God forgive us when we behave as if it isn't.
  • Pray for the truth of God to pervade our pursuits and passions until we are one with him in all we do.
  • Pray for staff, students and faculty who may be traveling back to campus today after the Easter break and for the remaining weeks of the Spring Semester which resumes on Tuesday.
Never give up unless its praise we give up to God; never give in except to give in to him.

He Is Risen!

Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? He isn't here. He is risen from the dead. (Luke 24:5b-6a NLT)

Today's prayer topics:
  • Men persist in looking for life among the dead or dying, but the only real life is in Jesus who conquered death and offers us a magnificent exchange: death for life, temporal for eternal, sinfulness for righteousness, despair for hope.
  • Worship the risen Christ today for he is risen indeed.
Never give up unless its praise we give up to God; never give in except to give in to him.

I Will Rise

The next day, on the Sabbath, the leading priests and Pharisees went to see Pilate. They told him, "Sir, we remember what that deceiver once said while he was alive: 'After three days I will rise from the dead.' So we request that you seal the tomb until the third day". . .so they sealed the tomb and posted guards to protect it. (Matthew 27:62-64, 66 NLT)

Today's prayer topics:
  • The efforts of man to thwart God's plan are feeble at best. It cannot be done.
  • Pray for faith to overpower doubt and for hope to overcome despair whenever and wherever doubt and despair appear. Despite appearances, God will rise and challenge our emotions and our faith and prove himself greater than any human circumstance.
  • Pray for clarity of vision to see what really is.
Never give up unless its praise we give up to God; never give in except to give in to him.

Carrying the Cross

Then Pilate turned Jesus over to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus away. Carrying the cross by himself, he went to the place called Place of the Skull (in Hebrew, Golgotha). There they nailed him to the cross. (John 19:16-17 NLT)

Today's prayer topics:
  • On this Good Friday may we stop to think of why we call it good. It wasn't good for Jesus. He suffered as the sacrificial lamb who redeems us and that is why it is good - for us.
  • Pray for our students, staff and faculty to spend some quality time with Jesus over the Easter break to think about how different is the cross we carry compared to the one he bore.
  • Pray for safe travels for all who will journey somewhere over the break.
Never give up unless its praise we give up to God; never give in except to give in to him.
