Lift My Hands

Hunger and Thirst

Happy are those who are hungry and thirsty for righteousness, because they will be fed until they are full. (Matthew 5:6 CEB)

• God, forgive us for hungering and thirsting after the inappropriate, even the good, because anything less than God's best fails to satisfy.
• Pray we direct our appetites toward God's holiness and righteousness that we may be filled up with his goodness to share with others. 
• Pray for the people of Emmanuel College to hunger and thirst for God for he is more than enough to meet our needs and help us conquer our challenges.

Humble

• Humble and passive are words often used together, but they are not synonyms, because humble people have been known to lead from the front and breathe fire.
• Pray for the kind of humility that recognizes who we are in the context of who God is and in light of his command to passionately serve others even if it costs much.
• Pray for leaders who are free of arrogance and notions of privilege, who humble themselves before Almighty God, leading with determination, persistence, and unconquerable love.

Those Who Mourn

• When there is loss, our natural response is to mourn which may be necessary but should never be permanent. 
• Within our Emmanuel family, pray for those who mourn to receive the comfort they need, but also pray for them to receive renewed strength and commitment to follow the Lord.
• Pray for the comfort of Jesus to nurture our spirits and strengthen our resolve to take the fight to the enemy.

• We thank God for comforting words and encouragement from friends and co-workers that come to us when we need them most.

God Blesses the Poor

God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. (Matthew 5:3 NLT)

• Poor? Lack of resources or short on resolve or without hope? Pray we turn our lack into blessing by looking to Jesus.
• Pray we understand our poverty in the context of our utter dependence on God and our riches in Christ Jesus.
• Pray for Emmanuel College to be rich in mercy, love, and mission regardless of the size of our bank account or the extent of our material assets.
