I was very glad in the Lord because now at last you have shown concern for me again. (Of course you were always concerned but had no way to show it.) I'm not saying this because I need anything, for I have learned how to be content in any circumstance. (Philippians 4:10-11 CEB)
Today's meditation:
- Contentment in any circumstance is not the same thing as giving up or ceasing efforts to improve, but it is a lifestyle that declares faith in God to sustain us as we work to make things better, a lifestyle characterized less by complaint and more by positive action.
Pray today:
- For us to never be content with shoddy performance or minimal effort, for us to work hard and with God to develop excellence in everything we do, and along the way, be forcefully positive.
- For our students to spend less energy making excuses, regardless of the field of endeavor, and invest more effort in transforming themselves with the help of Jesus into God's masterpiece.
- For the Emmanuel family to be patiently focused on the future God has in store for us, while working together steadily in the present with what we have.
