Abiding

Arise in Prayer - Day 16 of 21

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. (John 15:7-8 NKJV)

John 15:8, "By this my Father is glorified." What is the "this" that glorifies the Father? Us abiding in him, his words abiding in us, and as a result, what the Father does in and for us. Abiding in him is more than casual acquaintance. It's a serious relationship. Then, there's God's Word abiding in us which is more than memorizing a few verses. God's Word in us is about obedience to what he tells us in his Word. When we abide like this, our desires align with God's and his answers to our requests reveal his power which bears fruit in our lives that glorify God. Note that fruit only ripens at the end of a lengthy growing season. This abiding is not casual; this is serious, in-depth devotion to and relationship with God. This only happens through prayer.

Pray for the people of God to become as serious about him as he is about us. May our prayers focus on him, his Word, and his will.

Pray every Tuesday for provision and protection for Emmanuel College during these perilous times. Pray for the leaders of Emmanuel College at every level to have strength and courage to do all the Lord commands us.

Pray daily for the few among our students and employees who have the corona virus. Pray for their healing and comfort. Pray for our COVID-19 Response Team that cares for students in quarantine and isolation. Pray for the eradication of this virus.

Thank you for praying.
