Great Calm

The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!" Jesus responded, "Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!" Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm. The disciples were amazed. "Who is this man?" they asked. "Even the winds and waves obey him." (Matthew 8:25-27 NLT)

• Pray we always turn to Jesus when facing threats and challenges, keenly aware that these are opportunities for him to save. 
• If Jesus is in my boat, why am I at times afraid? Forgive us, Lord, for emotions lost on wind and waves instead of centered on you.
• Pray for great calm in our thoughts and emotions, always advancing with steady determination regardless of circumstances, because God is with us, Emmanuel.

Give thanks for God's generous care and for his answers to our prayers:
